Dear Readers,

This site was created first and foremost for my family and friends to record the places on my travels that have brought me immense joy and wonderful memories. My goal is always to capture a glimpse of life from the locals who call my destination casa, and to bring back a fresh perspective on life in

New York City.

In a country that has become my adopted home, my adventures in Italy have allowed me to reconnect with my ancestral heritage in a way that I never could have dreamed. I approach this website as a constantly evolving endeavor; with each trip to Italy, I return with a list of places to visit that only grows exponentially in length. For this reason, I chose to apply for a Fulbright fellowship where I was lucky enough to be chosen for a research fellowship were I was based in Firenze for a year, traveling to Lampedusa to carry out a lifelong dream of combining my medical knowledge and research background with my love for Italy. I worked with local Sicilian medical teams to study the health resources available to maritime migrants upon landing, and assessing the utilization and efficiency of the current systems in place. This experience for me was a true gift.

I would not have found all of these places on my own, and I am thankful to all of the resources that inform my travel planning. These are certainly not limited to but include websites such as Italy Segreta, The Italy Insider, Bellini Travel, NY Times 48 Hours, the Lonely Planet, Condé Nast Traveler, Le Guide Routard, and many others. And most importantly, a huge thank you to all of my friends who are scattered from the Alps to the Southern coasts of Sicily who have made far away places feel like home.
